About Nia
Nia Primus is a Philadelphia-based Alternative R&B artist/producer and creative entrepreneur.
She was born in Queens, New York to Trinidadian parents. She started making beats at the age of 15 under the influence of Pharrell, Timbaland, Quincy Jones, Raphael Saadiq, Salaam Remi, Babyface, etc. Other influences includes musical roots, Calypso and Soca. By her junior year of high school, she was already cutting her teeth as a music producer.
After spending her early childhood in Trinidad & Tobago, she relocated to Brooklyn, then to Pennsylvania. She would later attend Shippensburg University, receiving a B.A in English and established herself within the music scene as she performed locally and produced for other artists. Primus has served as a guest speaker for the University's English department and PAGE Center.
